Essential Oil Methodology

The Three Ways of Utilizing Essential Oils

Inhalation Method

If you’re reading this, chances are you either already love using essential oils, or you are about to love using essential oils! Either way, we have your back!  For as far back as 3,500 BC, Essential OIls have appeared regularly throughout human history. With uses including medicinal, ceremonial, flavoring and fragrance, these organic “love juices” from nature have been evident in all major civilizations.

They can be applied Topically, used medicinally through Ingesting, and are famous for aromatherapy via Inhalation

If we know that Organic Essential Oil of Rose is known to heal the skin, raise your vibrational frequency and alleviate anxiety and depression, then we are almost obligated to use this most lovely gift in every form with which it avails itself.

For example, let’s take a look at Essential Oil of Roman Chamomile. People just love our Beautiful Facial Mist for their skincare needs, but its use goes far beyond the skin; the Organic Roman Chamomile, along with others such as Rose, Lavender, Ylang Ylang  in this blend all have inhalation benefits as well!!

A prized oil for sensitive, dry or red skin, Organic Essential OIl of Roman Chamomile’s anti-inflammatory,  anti-bacterial, antioxidant, & mild astringent properties make it hugely popular and holistic treatment choice for acne, eczema, wound care, and skin irritations; a favorite of ours!

However, studies have shown that Roman Chamomile is also great at reducing anxiety, restlessness and insomnia. It is one of the carefully hand-chosen ingredients in our Good-Nite formula because it works so well. Inhaling this scent does more than calm anxiety, it has been scientifically shown to improve vital signs and the actual quality of one’s sleep.

Targeting the same parts of the brain and nervous system, putting a drop or two under your nose right before you close your eyes operates as a mild tranquilizer. Good-Nite also contains organic lavender and sweet orange (which calms the nervous system), two other essential oils effective in helping fall asleep and stay asleep with just a little whiff. You can also simply inhale deeply through the nose straight from the bottle or place a couple of drops into a mug of boiling water and with a towel covering your head, breathe deeply for two minutes. Or our personal favorite,  just use the Good-Nite Aroma Mist!

According to Ginger Ravencroft, this is “a wonderful way to utilize oils; misting respects mother nature by conserving these precious oils as an alternative to a diffuser; simply shake the bottle of AromaMist well, spray on face and neck, pillows, bed sheets or clothing, and drift off into sweet slumber.” In fact, this particular blend has been known to help greatly with Restless Leg Syndrome by simply placing a few drops on the feet & ankles and pulling the knees in towards the chest.

Did you know that the capacity to aroma-therapeutically calm the mind also gives Roman Chamomile the ability to ward off headaches before they even start? So does another immensely popular Organic Essential Oil just mentioned above, Lavender!  Most people know that lavender works awesome as a sleep aid, actually stimulating melatonin, but did you know that it does wonders for headache relief as well? The US National Library of Medicine & National Institutes of Health have both documented positive study results for utilizing the inhalation of Lavender Essential Oil as a means of relieving headache pain. As well, European Neurology has published that their study “suggests that inhalation of lavender essential oil may be an effective and safe treatment modality in acute management of migraine headaches”.

This is why it is one of the important inclusions in a most loved blend we offer, Sinus Headache Migraine Drops. It never ceases to amaze how many ways organic essential oils can be used to help us. Replete with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, Organic Essential Oil of Rosemary contains two potent anti-inflammatory agents, caffeic and rosmarinic acids, which contribute to it being widely used to relieve headaches.  Its analgesic properties alone have been used in Folk and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. When inhaled, Lavender and chamomile take inflammation down in the nasal canal and around the brain. They also help with allergies. Research shows that simply inhaling the aroma of rosemary essential oil can lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol in your blood, which when elevated, can cause headaches. By reducing stress, anxiety, and depression, all of which can trigger a headache, this oil is a fantastic choice for preventative use. It’s anti-inflammatory properties also aid greatly with pain relief.  So, our SHM Drops, which combines the benefits of all three of the extracts we’ve touched on so far, plus other pain relieving and sinus opening goodies, like Peppermint, which clears the nasal canal all the way to the lungs, and Basil that creates oxygen to the nasal canal and around the brain releasing the headache.

We know that scent is one of our most powerful senses. It can invoke memories, make us hungry. and lift our spirits. Anyone who has ever been to a Catholic Mass probably well remembers the scent of Frankincense wafting through the air, right? Organic Essential Oil of Frankincense has been used for eons due to its plethora of attributes. It’s use spans across so many advantages we could talk about it all day. We use it in our Beautiful Repair, Elevation of Mind, Body Balance Drops and, of course, in our Spiritual Anointing Serum

Both Organic Essential Oil of Frankincense and Essential Oil of Myrrh grace this particular blend. One dab on the ‘third-eye’ or under the nose, and several deep breaths can revolutionize any time spent in meditation. Likewise, you can place eight to nine drops in a two ounce glass bottle, fill with quality distilled water, and voila! Anoint your space by spraying your mat or meditation pillows.

Created to quiet the mind chatter, reduce anxiety and immediately enhance spiritual connection, the Frankincense used has a sweet, woody aroma which has a sedative effect (not to be confused with drowsiness), while simultaneously improving concentration and memory. Studies have shown that it transmits signals to the limbic region of the brain which influences the nervous system, gently slowing the heart rate and easing high blood pressure. Both Frankincense and Myrrh are derived from the healing sap of trees, both are commonly used in aromatherapy, and actually, they are both commonly used together.  According to Dr. Josh Axe, “two primary active compounds are found in myrrh, called terpenoids and sesquiterpenes, both of which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. (1) Sesquiterpenes specifically also have an effect on our emotional center in the hypothalamus, helping us remain calm and balanced.”  Studies have shown Myrrh to lift negative moods, promote the feeling of being grounded, and encourage the feeling of spiritual awakening.  Ginger made this blend with meditators in mind, but realized that it was also helping people with anxiety so it’s become her number one blend for PTSD and helping veterans and autistic children.

So next time you settle down to meditate, or have other needs to address, include a few drops of Spiritual Anointing, relax your body, breathe deeply, and ahhhhhhhh…..

Inhalation Tips:

When dabbing, you may place a drop or two under the nose, behind the ear, on the shoulders, behind the neck or otherwise nesting subject to the olfactory region of the body. Place several drops on these areas throughout the day or before getting into your bath or shower.

Spray the face 3 to 4 times while breathing in. One can receive the benefits from inhaling these beautiful aromatherapy mists throughout the day for stress or spraying in the shower for a spa-like atmosphere. Depending which blend we use, it will uplift the spirit, clear the sinuses or have grounding and anti-anxiety effects. Whether we dab under the nose or spritz our face, we can have a brain chemistry shift, for its most needed benefit & instantaneously.

If we want to utilize misting around the home when company comes in, we can spray or throw pillows or the entryway of the home. The scent of a rose can instantly change one’s mood. It’s nice to have an aphrodisiac, such as the Ylang Ylang in our Aroma Blue, to spray the bedroom pillow in those intimate moments. To spray the bed pillow at night or spray the face when our head is already on the pillow with the good night is a delicious way of falling into slumber. Check out this list of wonderful aromatherapy mists. It’s wonderful to conserve mother earth by not diffusing all over the home. If we need sleep we put a dab under the nose or spritz the face a couple times. When we want to de-stress ourselves, we spray or dab with an antidepressant blend.
